Our Chemical manufacturing client at their Indiana facility desired to increase their through-put while reducing energy usage by converting their existing distillation train from batch to continuous operation.
A new distribution system for Hot Oil was designed for heating new re-boilers on four distillation columns. The new approach to heating adds the flexibility for batch or continuous operation and tighter control of process temperature and quality.
Design work included heat and mass balances, piping design, thermal stress analysis, equipment hydraulics and selection, structural supports for piping and equipment and instrumentation datasheets as well as electrical design for all new equipment and devices.
DED was on site through construction for this retrofit to help identify and plan piping and electrical tie-ins.
